Data Warehousing is a new embedded technology that provides the backbone repository for all historical systems management data and the basis for all reporting solutions. A Data Warehouse is a (normalized or demoralized) repository of integrated information, available for queries and analysis (reporting). Data and information is extracted from heterogeneous sources and stored under a unified schema, at a single site. Once gathered, the (transactional) data is stored for a long time, permitting an access to historical data. This makes it much easier and more efficient to run queries over data that originally came from different sources. A data Warehouse provides a powerful open archive that simplifies data consolidation and centralization from both similar and disparate applications. In addition, it provides the foundation for applications that analyze historical data allowing us to identify customer trends, predict new business needs, or to perform other valuable predictive management tasks and extract enormous amounts of data in a faster, easier, cheaper and more responsive ways.
